This is for those of you who think that being “enlightened” or “spiritual” is all about sweetness and light and peace and zen, and if you’re not the equivalent of the Dalai Lama, you’re doing it wrong.
Allow me to disabuse you of that extremely simplistic notion.
You haven’t seen me in full-on battle rage. And it’s probably not something you ever want to see. It would probably frighten you, and would definitely give you a different opinion of who and what I am. So please read the full poem at the above link and consider it carefully. Sometimes dark things are extremely dangerous to you and those around you, and should not be taken lightly (pun intended), but sometimes we’re necessary. The fire can burn, but not if you understand how to handle it properly.
Edited to add: Now that I think more about it, this is the opposite of my previous post, When the Darkness Comes Disguised as the Light. Sometimes genuinely evil things can look like good things. Sometimes good things can seem evil until you understand them. It is critically important that you be able to tell the difference.
